Meet Our Training Team

Mike is the second generation to run Taunton Training Centre, which his family founded in 1973. A DVSA-registered LGV instructor with over 30 years behind the wheel and at the roadside, he oversees the centre, the on-site test facility and the instructor team — and still loves seeing a nervous learner pass their Class 1.

A former long-distance HGV driver, Steve made the move to instructing so he could pass on the practical, road-ready habits that keep drivers safe and confident. Patient and unflappable, he takes learners from their first time in a rigid cab right through to their artic test.

Karen specialises in the passenger side — Category D and D1 minibus, plus C1 ambulance and paramedic driver training. With a background in community and ambulance transport, she understands exactly what passenger-carrying and blue-light driving demands.

Tony runs the centre’s Driver CPC programme — Module 4, and the 35-hour periodic training drivers need to keep their Driver Qualification Card valid. He keeps the classroom sessions practical and relevant, so it’s time well spent rather than a box-ticking day.

Lisa is usually the first voice you’ll hear when you call. She handles course bookings, theory and practical test slots at the on-site DVSA centre, and helps learners and employers work out the quickest route to a licence — including funding options.
